Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Beat in vanilla. Add chocolate chips. Drop only cookie sheet by spoonfuls. (The Pampered Chef medium scoop is the perfect size for this.) Bake at 350 degrees for 13 to 20 minutes. Cookies should be 2 inches in diameter or about the size of a Pringles lid. COOL each cookie completely. Pack in a shallow cardboard box so that the cookies on the bottom will not break. Place a piece of wax paper between each layer.
